Record Keeping Reminder
It never ceases to amaze me how as church leaders we have a tendency to keep closets full of old church items but fail to maintain critical legal and business records. On several occasions, I found my self asking a church client if they have a certain record only to discover it has either been thrown out, lost or destroyed. May I suggest the following: if you have not done it already, open a file cabinet drawer to begin maintaining these important church documents:
- Interview notes of prospective employees
 - Employee records
 - IRS records
 - Insurance records, including policies and declaration pages
 - Minutes of Board of Directors/Deacon Meetings
 - File of each weekly church bulletin.
 - Committee Meetings
 - Record of your member’s names and addresses
 - Annual Accounting or Financial Records
 - Articles of Incorporation/Constitution/Bylaws and all Amendments
 - Names and Addresses of all Directors and Officers
