Armed Church Volunteer Exemption

Dear Clients and Friends,

Our governor last week signed into law an exemption of regulations for armed volunteers at places of worship.

The law states that certain regulations that govern professional security services do not apply to church members who provide security on a volunteer basis or without compensation.

This law allows churches to protect their congregations without having to satisfy the 40-hour training and licensing requirements currently mandated for paid security officers.

This law will take effect on July 1, 2026.
